"Start-up helps companies use credit cards with a ‘Kleer’ conscience"

A new option is available for small and big businesses that want more options for their company credit card.
Cousins and Suffolk natives Adam Alphin and Owen Hill started KleerCard to help businesses of all sizes, especially small to midsized, have more clarity and agility with their credit cards.
Alphin has worked in the coding software industry since he graduated from Virginia Tech. He worked for Coupa software, a global technology platform for business spend management, for 6 ½ years, mostly working with Fortune 500 companies.
Already thinking of how this technology could benefit small businesses, he heard a complaint from his brother-in-law about business credit cards. Owning KCW Contracting in Suffolk, he was regularly firing employees who were mishandling their work credit card.
Hill being a small-business owner himself with a doctorate in economics with a focus in finance, the two created KleerCard in 2020. As the company is slowly taking off, they are focusing on helping smaller and midsized businesses. However, they are open to any big businesses that are interested.
“What we have applies to businesses of all sizes,” said Alphin. “We want to help businesses to be more efficient in their spending with more clarity and agility.”
KleerCard currently has 750 customers nationwide. Most are located in Hampton Roads and Colorado Springs, where Hill currently lives. Customers include small businesses, churches and nonprofits.
